Leamington rips Sarnia, 7-4

The Sarnia Legionnaires had trouble finding ways to stop the Leamington Flyers, which beat Legionnaires, 7-4.

Leamington was paced on offense by Chris Scott and Mitchell Amante, who combined for seven points. Scott grabbed one goal and three assists and Amante also notched two goals and one assist.

The Flyers pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 12 penalty minutes.

Sarnia was unable to stop Leamington from sending pucks towards the net, and the Flyers eventually piled up 53 shots on goal. Leamington surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Flyers have scored at the pace of 4.2 goals per game during the current campaign.

Leamington additionally got points from Tyler Duarte, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Cale Allen, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Amante, who also racked up two goals and one assist, and Kyle Quick, who also registered one goal and one assist. Leamington also got a goal from Colin Moore as well. More assists for Leamington came via Alex Derksen, Cale Phibbs, Eric Henderson, Matthew Opblinger, and Travis Campbell, who contributed one each.

The Legionnaires were led by Ryan Vendramin, who grabbed two goals and one assist. Vendramin scored the first of his two goals at 10:34 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Riley Babkirk assisted on the tally. Vendramin's next tally made the score 6-4 Leamington with 5:38 left in the third period. Davis Boyer picked up the assist. Sarnia also got points from Tyler Longo, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Kyler Keating also scored for Sarnia. Other players who recorded assists for Sarnia were Jake O`Donnell and PJ Vandervaart, who each chipped in one.

Michael Barrett made 19 saves for Leamington on 23 shots. The Flyers registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Cornel Felder rejected 46 shots on goal for Sarnia. The Legionnaires incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
