Stratford outlasts Brampton, 7-5

The game between the Stratford Cullitons and the Brampton Bombers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Stratford emerged with a 7-5 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Tyson Baker secured the win for the Cullitons with a goal in the third period.

Baker had two goals to lead Stratford to victory.

The Cullitons pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 14 penalty minutes.

Stratford put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Brampton to score on any of its eight power plays. The Bombers were unable to stop the Cullitons from sending pucks towards the net, and Stratford eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. The Cullitons surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Stratford averages 4.2 goals per game.

Stratford also got points from Deven Kropf, who also had two goals and one assist to lead the team in points, Shane O Brien, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Mitch Vandergunst, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Stratford also got a goal from Mitch Brooks as well. More assists for Stratford came via Jake Pleon and Tristan Hohl, who each chipped in one and Patrick McKelvie and Hayden Broomhead, who contributed two each.

Brampton's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Bombers average 2.6 goals per contest.

Brampton was helped by Brad Bollert, who grabbed two goals. Bollert scored the first of his two goals short handed at 7:00 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Brampton. The Bombers were on a disadvantage when Nick Petropoulos went off the ice for holding. Shawn Madden picked up the assist. Bollert's next tally short handed made the score 3-3 with 8:43 left in the second period. Carmine Vietri assisted on the tally. Brampton additionally got points from Connor Andersen, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Noah Robinson, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Kevin Bray also scored for Brampton. In addition, Brampton received assists from Lucas Goodman and Austin Kozluk, who each chipped in one.

Nicholas Caldwell recorded 19 saves for the Cullitons. Stratford registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Shane Dietl made 30 saves for Brampton on 37 shots. The Bombers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
