Strathroy rips St. Marys, 10-1West Middlesex Arena Sun, Dec 21, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Strathroy Rockets had a seven-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 10-1 win over the St. Marys Lincolns. Sam Vokes was all over the ice for Strathroy, as he tallied one goal and three assists in the win. Vokes scored 3:38 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Strathroy. Dan Chapman picked up the assist. The Rockets' Dane Gubbels was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 28 saves and let only one puck past him. Gubbels certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.17 entering the contest. Strathroy forced St. Marys' netminders to work in net, taking 54 shots and forcing 44 saves. Andrew Masters made 19 stops and Tyler Beattie made 25. The Rockets found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Strathroy averages 4.0 goals per game. The Rockets took advantage of the Lincolns' penalties, tallying three goals off of four power play opportunities. Strathroy additionally got points from Joey Seney, who also registered one goal and one assist, Stuart King, who also tallied two goals and one assist, and Mark MacAulay, who also had one goal and two assists. Strathroy also got a goal from Eddie Schulz as well. In addition, Strathroy received assists from Kurtis Sander, who had two, Nick Boyer, who had three, and Dalton Good, Nick Whitworth, and Brett Dalton, who contributed one each. St. Marys was led by Graham Brulotte, who scored the team's only goal. Brulotte scored on the power play 10:23 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Lincolns earned a power play opportunity when Kieran Milne was put in the box for too many men. Sean O`Brien assisted on the tally. Strathroy ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. The Rockets ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Lucas Latina was ejected from the game. St. Marys totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. For the Lincolns, Jack Wieringa was ejected from the game.
