Seraphim leads Elmira over Brantford, 6-3

Cash Seraphim was all over the ice for the Elmira Sugar Kings, as he tallied one goal and two assists in Elmira's 6-3 win over the Brantford 99ers.

Seraphim got on the board by slotting home a goal 6:22 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Mitch Klie provided the assist. Seraphim dished an assist on Connor Hall's goal that made the score 2-2 at 8:28 into the second period. He added another helper on Eric Palazzolo's goal that made the score 6-3 Elmira at 17:42 into the third period.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 16:23 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with four game misconducts.

The Sugar Kings were often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. Elmira had been averaging 22.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Sugar Kings excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Brantford was unable to stop Elmira from sending pucks towards the net, and the Sugar Kings eventually piled up 41 shots on goal.

Elmira additionally got points from Palazzolo, who also had one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Elmira included Rob Kohli, Alex Mutton, and Zac Coulter, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Elmira were Troy Taylor, who had one and Mitch Wright, who had two.

The 99ers forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 12 minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. Brantford surpassed its season average of 26.0 penalty minutes per game.

The 99ers were helped by Matthew Woods, who finished with one goal and one assist. Woods scored 2:57 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Cole Cummings picked up the assist. Brantford also got points from Gus Ford, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Cummings, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Brantford received assists from Guy Polillo, Brett Parsons, and Zander Pryor, who each chipped in one.

Jonathan Reinhart recorded 23 saves for Elmira. The Sugar Kings registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. For Elmira, Hall was ejected from the game. Mathieu Kingsley made 35 saves for Brantford on 40 shots. The 99ers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Parsons was ejected from the game.
