Murdaca stymies Ancaster, Niagara Falls wins 2-1

Joseph Murdaca stood on his head and made 28 saves to lead the Niagara Falls Canucks to a 2-1 victory over the Ancaster Avalanche.

Niagara Falls was led by Kevin Millejours, who registered one goal. Millejours scored on the power play 14:14 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Niagara Falls. Sean Farquharson provided the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 10:40 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Canucks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Niagara Falls also got a goal from Nigel Slade as well. More assists for Niagara Falls came via Trevor Simonick, who had one.

Ancaster could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Avalanche average 3.6 goals per game.

Ancaster was led by Michael Pollice, who scored the team's only goal. Pollice scored 17:58 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Blake Luscombe picked up the assist.

Niagara Falls totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Team's Taggart Ledyard and Zack Lansfield were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Blake Richard recorded 27 saves for the Avalanche. Ancaster ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. For the Avalanche, Ryan Knill was ejected from the game.
