The Listowel Cyclones tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Cambridge Winter Hawks would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2. A goal by Devin Shell put Cambridge up 3-1 in the third period, but Listowel pulled to within one on Caleb Warren's tally 7:49 into the third period. The Winter Hawks were paced by Shell, who grabbed one goal. Shell scored 1:39 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Cambridge. Alex Hulford picked up the assist. Cambridge also got points from Mitch Atkins, who also registered one goal and one assist. Cambridge also got a goal from Jordan Chard as well. In addition, Cambridge received assists from Zack Magwood, Kyle Liu, and Alex Bottigoni, who each chipped in one. The Cyclones were helped by Ben Shelley, who finished with one goal. Shelley scored 13:21 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jordan Caskenette assisted on the tally. More assists for Listowel came via Keaton Willis, Garrett James, and Kevin Gergley, who contributed one each. Lucas Machalski made 27 saves for Cambridge on 29 shots. The Winter Hawks incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Ryan Hergott rejected 20 shots on goal for Listowel. The Cyclones incurred 34 minutes in penalty time with two minors. |
