Kitchener penalty kill dominates in 6-3 defeat of Brampton

The Kitchener Dutchmen's penalty kill was superb, as Kitchener survived multiple penalties to beat the Brampton Bombers, 6-3.

The Dutchmen were sparked by Adam Kawalec, who tallied one goal and one assist. Kawalec scored 4:56 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Kitchener. Alex Demrovsky assisted on the tally.

Kitchener kept Brampton's goalie busy throughout the game, and Shane Dietl made 34 saves on 40 shots. The Dutchmen cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring two goals on three chances.

Kitchener also got points from Philip Moser, who also had one goal and one assist. Kitchener also had goals scored by Nathan Grossi, who had two and Ryan George APM and Keegan Calder, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Sean Allen, Kyle Ellis, Mitchell Smith, Austin Gaboury, and Taite Wirschke, who each chipped in one.

The Bombers' offense rang up 32 shots on Kitchener's net.

Brampton was helped by Jordan Crocker, who registered one goal. Crocker scored on the power play 15:50 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Kitchener. The Bombers had gotten the advantage when the Dutchmen's Calder was sent off for hooking. Carmine Vietri picked up the assist. Others who scored for Brampton included Lucas Goodman and Shawn Madden, who scored one goal each. More assists for Brampton came via Anton Bura, Matthew Magliozzi, Kevin Bray, Noah Robinson, and Mathieu Young, who contributed one each.

Jackson McIntosh rejected 29 shots on goal for Kitchener. The Dutchmen incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Brampton incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
