Caledonia survives penalties, beats Niagara Falls, 3-1

Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Caledonia Corvairs were able to defeat the Niagara Falls Canucks, 3-1.

Caledonia was led by Jake Brown, who racked up one goal. Brown scored 15:33 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Caledonia. Nathan Gomes assisted on the tally.

The Corvairs' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Niagara Falls power plays. Caledonia forced Niagara Falls goalie Dylan Pietrangelo to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. The Corvairs' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Caledonia finished with 26 penalty minutes.

Caledonia also got points from Tyler Lepore, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Caledonia also got a goal from Jordan Peacock as well. More assists for Caledonia came via Riley Vanhorne, Connor Patton, Matthew Hore, and Todd Ratchford, who contributed one each.

The Canucks stifled the Corvairs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Niagara Falls did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Canucks put an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game.

Niagara Falls was led by Nigel Slade, who scored the team's only goal. Slade scored 1:31 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Caledonia. Frank Pucci picked up the assist.

Brendan Polasek rejected 21 shots on goal for Caledonia. The Corvairs registered zero goals on three power play opportunities. Dylan Pietrangelo made 30 saves for the Canucks on 33 shots. Niagara Falls incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
