St. Catharines rips Thorold, 7-4

The St. Catharines Falcons had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-4 win over the Thorold Blackhawks.

Tyler Morrison was all over the ice for St. Catharines, as he tallied one goal and three assists in the win. Morrison scored 2:21 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Catharines. Ryan Doucette assisted on the tally.

The Falcons kept Thorold's goalie busy throughout the game, and Josh Astorino made 33 saves on 40 shots. St. Catharines outdid its season average for goals scored. The Falcons average 4.3 goals per game. St. Catharines got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

St. Catharines also got points from Tyler Hildebrant, who also had one goal and one assist. Tyler Jackson also scored for St. Catharines. In addition, St. Catharines received assists from Broderick Kelly, who had two, Manny Manns, who had three, and Brandon Cercone and Paolo De Sousa, who contributed one each.

The Blackhawks were led by Mitchell Mendonca, who racked up one goal and two assists. Mendonca scored 7:43 into the second period to make the score 4-2 St. Catharines. Matt Ceko provided the assist. Thorold additionally got points from Scott Dorion, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Thorold also got a goal from Nick Prestia as well. More assists for Thorold came via Adam Kozlowski APM, Tyler Sehovic, and Justin Whitwell, who each chipped in one.

Ben Csiernik rejected 15 shots on goal for the Falcons. St. Catharines incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Thorold incurred 42 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For the Blackhawks, Sehovic was ejected from the game.
