Huge game by Kenny boosts Fort Erie over Thorold, 6-2

Behind a great game by Wade Kenny, who had two goals and one assist, the Fort Erie Meteors defeated the Thorold Blackhawks, 6-2.

Kenny's tallies came at 8:48 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and on the power play 3:02 into the second to make the score 3-2 Fort Erie.

Thorold fell victim to a deadly Fort Erie power play, which ripped the Blackhawks for four goals.

The Meteors stifled Thorold's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Fort Erie forced the Blackhawks goalie Ian Shorthouse to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. The Meteors found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Fort Erie averages 2.4 goals per contest. The defensemen of the Meteors were also effective in Thorold's zone, and came away with three goals. Fort Erie was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 40 penalty minutes.

Fort Erie additionally got points from Richard DeMarco, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Fort Erie also got a goal from Bryce Martin as well. More assists for Fort Erie came via Jared Marino, who had four and Dalton Tartaglia, Declan Conway, Holden Garlent, Daniel Volpatti, and Josh Micallef, who contributed one each.

The Blackhawks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 25 minutes in penalties during the game. Thorold got its opportunities on the power play, but did not convert any of its 12 chances.

The Blackhawks were helped by Anthony Postiglione, who registered one goal. Postiglione scored short handed 15:00 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Thorold. Thorold played down a man on Jake Lloyd's interference. Quinn Geddes picked up the assist. Vito Scaringi also scored for Thorold.

Liam Conway recorded 19 saves for the Meteors. Ian Shorthouse made 31 saves for the Blackhawks on 37 shots. For Thorold, Postiglione was ejected from the game.
