Niagara Falls outlasts Welland, 3-2Welland Arena Sun, Dec 14, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Niagara Falls Canucks and the Welland Jr. Canadians was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Niagara Falls emerged with a 3-2 win. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Nigel Slade secured the win for the Canucks with a goal in the third period. Niagara Falls' penalty kill excelled, as the Canucks gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays. Niagara Falls was led by Slade, who had one goal and one assist. Slade scored 52 seconds into the third period to make the score 3-2 Niagara Falls. Ryall Ledyard assisted on the tally. Welland was unable to stop the Canucks from sending pucks towards the net, and Niagara Falls eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. The Canucks were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 24 penalty minutes. Niagara Falls additionally got points from Ledyard, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Zack Lansfield also scored for Niagara Falls. Niagara Falls registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. Chris Janzen recorded 28 saves for the Jr. Canadians. Welland incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
