Cambridge wins tough contest against Waterloo, 6-4Waterloo Rec Complex Sun, Dec 14, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Cambridge Winter Hawks and the Waterloo Siskins were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Cambridge made the most of its opportunities and won, 6-4. The Winter Hawks gained the winning advantage on a goal by Alex Hulford 14:33 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. Maxime Lamontagne had one goal and two assists to lead Cambridge. Lamontagne scored 12:23 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Jordan Chard assisted on the tally. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 11:39 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Winter Hawks kept Waterloo's goalie busy throughout the game, and Bailey DeGasperis made 36 saves on 42 shots. Cambridge bested its season scoring average. The Winter Hawks have scored at the pace of 3.0 goals per game during the current campaign. Cambridge additionally got points from Mitch Atkins, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Chard, who also had one goal and two assists. Cambridge also had goals scored by Matt Harding and Jake Moggy, who each put in one. More assists for Cambridge came via Kyle Liu, Zack Hedley, Riley MacRae, Alex Bottigoni, and Drew Stirling, who contributed one each. The Siskins forced Cambridge goalie Lucas Machalski to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Waterloo was helped by Danny Hanlon, who tallied one goal and one assist. For the Winter Hawks, Tyler Mellish and Hedley were ejected from the contest. Waterloo totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and three majors and went 1-for-2 on the power play. For the Siskins, Connor Bodnar was ejected from the game.
