Kohli's goals lift Elmira to 6-0 victory over Brampton

Rob Kohli had four goals to lead the Elmira Sugar Kings to a 6-0 victory over the Brampton Bombers.

Kohli got on the scoresheet 9:32 into the first period. He then added goals at 10:36 into the first, at 1:17 into the third, and at 15:26 into the third.

Elmira was boosted by Jonathan Reinhart, who turned in a shutout with 31 saves. Reinhart certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.54 entering the contest.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 5:57 into the third period. Twelve fighting penalties were dished out along with 10 game misconducts.

The Sugar Kings were often in penalty trouble, totaling five minors and four majors for 40 minutes in penalty time. Elmira surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. The Sugar Kings forced Bombers' netminders to work without much rest, firing 51 shots and forcing 45 saves. Shane Dietl made 35 stops and Jacob Hutchings made 10. Elmira's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Brampton power plays. The Sugar Kings featured an improved defense during the game. Elmira allows 2.6 goals per game.

Elmira also got points from Klayton Hoelscher, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Mitch Wright, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Elmira were Mac Clutsam, who had two, Jamie Huber, who had four, and Adam Brubacher, Alex Mutton, and Ethan Skinner, who contributed one each.

Brampton racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and four majors for 60 minutes in penalty time. The Bombers had been averaging 24.0 minutes in penalties per game. Brampton did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Bombers put an average of 2.6 pucks into the net per game. The Sugar Kings were unable to stop Brampton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bombers eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Elmira registered four goals on 11 power play opportunities. For the Sugar Kings, Sam Harris, Mutton, Skinner, Steven Jakiela, and Cash Seraphim were ejected from the contest. Team's Robert Orlando, Nick Petropoulos, Shawn Madden, Austin Kozluk, and Jordan Crocker were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
