Chatham survives LaSalle comeback, wins 7-5

The LaSalle Vipers tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Chatham Maroons would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 7-5.

A goal by Brennan Feasey put Chatham up 7-4 in the third period, but LaSalle pulled to within two on Manny Silverio's tally 10:24 into the third period.

The Maroons were led by Connor McKinnon, who racked up one goal and one assist. McKinnon scored 15:33 into the second period to make the score 6-4 Chatham. Trevor Richardson picked up the assist.

Chatham was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The Maroons surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. Chatham's offense rang up 57 shots on the Vipers' net. The Maroons' goal total was higher than their season average. Chatham averages 4.5 goals per game.

Chatham also got points from Michael Verboom, who also registered one goal and one assist, Ian Faubert, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Feasey, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Chatham also had goals scored by Jared Dennis, Connor Doran, and Alexander Morgan, who each put in one. In addition, Chatham received assists from Connor Annett, Steven Beenackers, and Michael Levesque, who each chipped in two.

The Maroons were unable to stop LaSalle from sending pucks towards the net, and the Vipers eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Others who scored for LaSalle included Korey Morgan, Nathan Savage, and Daniel Beaudoin, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for LaSalle were Brendan Harrogate, who had two and Chris Pignanelli, Brett Primeau, and Dalton Langlois, who contributed one each.

Bo Bessette rejected 27 shots on goal for Chatham. The Maroons registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Team's Steven Szekesy and Morgan were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Eli Billing made 50 saves for LaSalle on 57 shots. The Vipers totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 3-for-7 on the power play. For LaSalle, Beaudoin and Harrogate were ejected from the contest.
