Caledonia blows out Thorold, 6-0Haldimand Center Sat, Dec 06, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Caledonia Corvairs were firing on all cylinders against the Thorold Blackhawks, and when the final buzzer sounded Corvairs emerged with a 6-0 win. Caledonia got the win thanks to a great game by Mitch Purdie, who had one goal and two assists. Purdie scored 13:53 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Caledonia. Connor Bramwell picked up the assist. The Corvairs kept Thorold's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ian Shorthouse made 53 saves on 59 shots. Caledonia also got points from Luke Sinclair, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Kyle Tanev, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Tyler Lepore, who also registered one goal and one assist. Caledonia also had goals scored by Nathan Gomes and Todd Ratchford, who each put in one. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Matthew Hore, who had two and Jordan Peacock and Justin Abraham, who contributed one each. The Blackhawks were held below their usual level of production. Thorold puts an average of 2.4 pucks into the net per game. The Blackhawks' offense were handcuffed by Caledonia's defensive play, and Thorold managed only 13 shots on goal during the game. Brendan Polasek rejected 13 shots on goal for the Corvairs. Caledonia incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities. The Blackhawks avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of two power plays.
