Niagara Falls uses big games from Wright and Pucci to down Ancaster, 7-4

Behind one goal and two assists from Austin Wright and two goals and one assist from Frank Pucci, the Niagara Falls Canucks downed the Ancaster Avalanche 7-4.

Wright scored 13:08 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Niagara Falls. Matthew Thorpe picked up the assist. Pucci scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 3:54 into the second period to make the score 2-2. An interference penalty on Josh Pace had put Niagara Falls on the power play. Mac Hollowell assisted on the tally. Pucci's next tally on the power play made the score 7-4 Niagara Falls with 2:07 left in the third period.

The Canucks kept Ancaster's goalie busy throughout the game, and Blake Richard made 25 saves on 32 shots. Niagara Falls outdid its season average for goals scored. The Canucks average 3.5 goals per game.

Niagara Falls also got points from Pucci, who also had two goals and one assist and Hollowell, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Niagara Falls also had goals scored by Nigel Slade, Sean Farquharson, and Matthew Marsden, who scored one goal each. More assists for Niagara Falls came via Trevor Simonick, who had one and Zack Lansfield, who had two.

The Avalanche could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game.

Ancaster was led by Michael Faliero, who finished with two goals and one assist. Faliero scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 9:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Ancaster. The Avalanche had taken the advantage when Niagara Falls' Kevin Millejours got sent off for head contact. Blake Luscombe picked up the assist. Faliero's next tally on the power play made the score 2-0 Ancaster with 1:37 left in the first period. Ancaster had gotten the advantage when the Canucks' Wright was sent off for cross checking. Michael Pollice assisted on the tally. Ancaster additionally got points from Luscombe, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Cole Nagy also scored for Ancaster. Other players who recorded assists for Ancaster were Ryan Knill, who had two.

Dylan Pietrangelo made 22 saves for Niagara Falls on 26 shots. The Canucks incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Avalanche registered two goals on five power play opportunities. For Ancaster, Ben Hughes was ejected from the game.
