Sarnia holds on for 5-3 win against ChathamSarnia Arena Thu, Dec 04, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Chatham Maroons tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Sarnia Legionnaires held on for a 5-3 victory. A goal by Davis Boyer put Sarnia up 5-2 in the third period, but Chatham pulled to within two on Brennan Feasey's tally 18:09 into the third period. The Legionnaires got the win on the strength of a great game by Boyer, who had two goals and one assist. Boyer scored the first of his two goals at 4:59 into the third period to make the score 4-1 Sarnia. Boyer's next tally made the score 5-2 Sarnia with 2:02 left in the third period. Sarnia forced the Maroons goalie Bo Bessette to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Others who scored for Sarnia included Ryan Vendramin, Jay Clarke, and Riley Babkirk, who each put in one. In addition, Sarnia received assists from Sam McCormack, Cody Trowell, Jordan Fogarty, Cameron Clarke, and PJ Vandervaart, who contributed one each. Chatham's offense rang up 68 shots on the Legionnaires' net. Steven Szekesy also scored for Chatham. More assists for Chatham came via Trevor Richardson and Michael Verboom, who each chipped in two. Hunter Johnson rejected 65 shots on goal for Sarnia. The Legionnaires incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Maroons' Bessette stopped 27 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Chatham incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
