Strathroy beats LaSalle 6-5 after comeback scareWest Middlesex Arena Sat, Nov 29, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Strathroy Rockets survived a determined comeback attempt by the LaSalle Vipers on the way to a 6-5 win. A goal by Stuart King put Strathroy up 5-2 in the third period, but LaSalle pulled to within one on Graham Pickard's tally 8:35 into the third period. Kurtis Sander had one goal and three assists to lead the Rockets. Sander scored 8:37 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Strathroy. Kieran Milne picked up the assist. Strathroy forced the Vipers goalie Eli Billing to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. The Rockets' goal total was higher than their season average. Strathroy has scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign. Strathroy additionally got points from Brett Dalton, who also had one goal and one assist and Milne, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Sam Vokes also scored for Strathroy. Other players who recorded assists for Strathroy were Nick Boyer, who had three and Dalton Good, Matt Laberge, and Lucas Latina, who each chipped in one. LaSalle's offense rang up 40 shots on the Rockets' net. LaSalle also got points from Eric Kirby, who also registered one goal and one assist, Nathan Veres, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Brendan Harrogate, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for LaSalle came via Korey Morgan, Chris Pignanelli, and Brendan McGhee, who contributed one each. Mat Ouellet recorded 35 saves for Strathroy. The Rockets incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Vipers' Billing stopped 35 shots out of the 41 that he faced. LaSalle incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. The Vipers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Daniel Beaudoin was ejected from the game.
