Huge game by Quick boosts Leamington over LaSalle, 5-2Vollmer Recreation Complex Wed, Nov 26, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Kyle Quick was all over the ice for the Leamington Flyers, as he tallied one goal and three assists in Leamington's 5-2 win over the LaSalle Vipers. Quick scored 14:14 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Leamington. Tyler Duarte picked up the assist. Quick dished an assist on Matthew Opblinger's goal that made the score 2-0 Leamington at 4:15 into the first period. He then added assists on Mitchell Amante's goal at 1:07 into the second and on Duarte's goal at 7:51 into the second.Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 8:46 into the third period. Three fighting penalties were dished out along with four game misconducts. The Flyers racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with five minors and two majors for 40 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 24.0 minutes per game Leamington had been spending in the box. The Flyers forced Vipers' goaltenders to work in net, getting 33 shots and forcing 28 saves. Eli Billing made 26 stops and Paolo Battisti made two. Leamington stifled LaSalle's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Leamington also got points from Duarte, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Opblinger, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Leamington received assists from Ryan Muzzin, Cale Phibbs, and Chris Scott, who contributed one each. The Vipers forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and two majors for 44 minutes in penalty time. LaSalle surpassed its season average of 25.0 penalty minutes per game. The Vipers were led by Graham Pickard, who registered one goal. Pickard scored 5:29 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Leamington. Connor Rosaasen provided the assist. Nathan Savage also scored for LaSalle. More assists for LaSalle came via Matt Trudel, Brendan Harrogate, and Manny Silverio, who each chipped in one. Trevor Wheaton made 27 saves for the Flyers on 29 shots. Leamington registered one goal on five power play opportunities. For the Flyers, Amante and Kyle Perkowski were ejected from the contest. LaSalle registered zero goals on three power play opportunities. Team's Nikko Sablone and Dalton Langlois were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
