Leamington outlasts St. Marys, 4-2

The Leamington Flyers and the St. Marys Lincolns were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Leamington made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

The Flyers gained the winning advantage on a goal by Chris Scott 3:18 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Scott had a great game for Leamington, netting two goals.

The Flyers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow St. Marys to score on any of its four power plays. The Lincolns were unable to stop Leamington from sending pucks towards the net, and the Flyers eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

Leamington additionally got points from Colin Moore, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Zack Guilbeault, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. In addition, Leamington received assists from Ryan Muzzin, Tyler Duarte, Mitchell Amante, Kyle Quick, and Thomas Virban, who contributed one each.

St. Marys was led by Jared Lindsay, who registered one goal and one assist. Lindsay scored 15:39 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Sean O`Brien provided the assist. Evan Krassey also scored for St. Marys. More assists for St. Marys came via Ocean Check and Garrett James, who each chipped in one.

Trevor Wheaton recorded 18 saves for Leamington. The Flyers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Tyler Beattie made 35 saves for the Lincolns on 39 shots. St. Marys incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. For the Lincolns, Jordan Winter was ejected from the game.
