A stellar performance between the pipes by Jonathan Reinhart helped the Elmira Sugar Kings defeat the Stratford Cullitons, 2-1. Stratford's power play was ineffective against Elmira's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. The Sugar Kings were sparked by Mitch Wright, who tallied one goal. Wright scored short handed 4:58 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Elmira. Mac Clutsam picked up the assist. Elmira put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Cullitons to score on any of their eight power plays. The Sugar Kings could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Elmira puts an average of 4.3 pucks into the net per game. Elmira additionally got points from Brendan Schneider, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Elmira came via Sam Harris and Klayton Hoelscher, who each chipped in one. Stratford's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Elmira power plays. The Cullitons did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Stratford averages 4.3 goals per game. The Cullitons' offense rang up 38 shots on the Sugar Kings' net. Stratford was led by Hayden Broomhead, who scored the team's only goal. Broomhead scored 15:50 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Mitch Brooks provided the assist. Reinhart recorded 37 saves for Elmira. The Sugar Kings incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Cullitons' Nicholas Caldwell stopped 18 shots out of the 20 that he faced. Stratford incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
