Chatham squeaks by London, 4-2Western Fair CC Wed, Nov 19, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Chatham Maroons gutted out a close 4-2 win against the London Nationals. Chatham gained the winning advantage on a goal by Michael Verboom 10:47 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. Verboom had a great game for the Maroons, netting two goals. Chatham's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three London power plays. London was unable to stop the Maroons from sending pucks towards the net, and Chatham eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. Chatham also got points from Trevor Richardson, who also registered one goal and one assist. Jared Dennis also scored for Chatham. In addition, Chatham received assists from Brennan Feasey, who had two and Nate Pietens, Steven Szekesy, and Dede Cato, who contributed one each. The Nationals forced the Maroons goalie Bo Bessette to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. London was helped by Drew Worrad, who racked up one goal. Worrad scored 17:45 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Tanner Ferreira provided the assist. London also got a goal from Austin Kemp as well. More assists for London came via Kyle L Robinson, Kevin Madden, and Scott Goodman, who each chipped in one. Bessette rejected 33 shots on goal for Chatham. The Maroons incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Logan Ferrington recorded 27 saves for the Nationals. London incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
