Early goals doom Pelham, falls to St. Catharines, 11-2

The St. Catharines Falcons jumped out to a four-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat the Pelham Panthers, 11-2.

St. Catharines got the win behind a great game by Tyler Morrison, who had two goals and six assists. Morrison scored the first of his two goals at 3:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Catharines. Jake Evans assisted on the tally. Morrison's next tally made the score 2-0 St. Catharines with 16:05 left in the first period. Manny Manns picked up the assist.

The Falcons' penalty kill excelled, as St. Catharines gave up one goal despite allowing 11 power plays.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at four seconds into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Falcons racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and one major for 55 minutes in penalty time. St. Catharines surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. The Falcons kept Pelham's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tynan Lauziere made 36 saves on 47 shots. St. Catharines outdid its season average for goals scored. The Falcons average 4.5 goals per game.

St. Catharines additionally got points from Broderick Kelly, who also grabbed one goal and three assists, Evans, who also registered one goal and three assists, Manns, who also had two goals and three assists, Tyler Hildebrant, who also racked up two goals and two assists, and Nicholas Prestia, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Tyler Jackson also scored for St. Catharines. In addition, St. Catharines received assists from Owen Peacock, Ryan Doucette, and Paolo De Sousa, who each chipped in one.

The Panthers' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 13 minors and one major for 101 minutes in penalty time. Pelham had been averaging 24.0 minutes in penalties per game.

Zach Moore recorded 15 saves for St. Catharines. The Falcons registered three goals on 21 power play opportunities. For St. Catharines, Hildebrant was ejected from the game. Team's Nick Carniello and Brock Ackerman were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
