Elmira downs Cambridge in overtime, 2-1 (OT)Dan Snyder Memorial Sun, Nov 16, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Elmira Sugar Kings pulled out a 2-1 (OT) overtime victory over the Cambridge Winter Hawks on a clutch goal by Eric Palazzolo. Cambridge was stymied by Elmira's netminder Jonathan Reinhart, who stopped 28 shots during the victory. Reinhart certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.49 entering the contest. The Sugar Kings were led by Palazzolo, who finished with one goal. Palazzolo scored 4:35 into overtime to make the score 2-1 Elmira. Zac Coulter picked up the assist. Elmira did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Sugar Kings put an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game. Elmira's offense rang up 46 shots on the Winter Hawks' net. Elmira also got a goal from Mitch Klie as well. More assists for Elmira came via Mac Clutsam and Mitch Wright, who each chipped in one. Cambridge put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Sugar Kings to score on any of their three power plays. The Winter Hawks were led by Devin Shell, who scored the team's only goal. Shell scored on the power play 1:57 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Cambridge. Zack Magwood provided the assist. Elmira incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Sugar Kings ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Sam Harris was ejected from the game. Cambridge's Lucas Machalski stopped 44 shots out of the 46 that he faced. The Winter Hawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
