Brampton wins tough contest against Listowel, 3-2

The game between the Brampton Bombers and the Listowel Cyclones was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Brampton emerged with a 3-2 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Kevin Bray secured the win for the Bombers with a goal in the third period.

Brampton was paced by Bray, who grabbed one goal. Bray scored 18:04 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Brampton. Cameron Cruickshank provided the assist.

In a losing effort, Listowel was led by Derek Elliot, who had two goals. Elliot scored the first of his two goals at 11:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Listowel. Caleb Warren picked up the assist. Elliot's next tally made the score 2-2 with 3:54 left in the third period. Ben VanOotegham provided the assist.

The Bombers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Brampton also got points from Cruickshank, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Lucas Goodman, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Brampton came via Connor Andersen, Mathieu Young, and Christian Sgroi, who contributed one each.

The Cyclones forced Bombers' goalies to work all game long, getting 37 shots and forcing 35 saves. Shane Dietl made 10 stops and Jake Lawr made 25. Listowel managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Cyclones ended up below its season average of 11.0 penalty minutes per game.

In addition, Listowel received assists from Keaton Willis and Tim Nauta, who each chipped in one.

Brampton incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Listowel's Tyler Fassl stopped 22 shots out of the 25 that he faced.
