St. Thomas vanquishes Lambton Shores in shootout, 2-1 (2-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the St. Thomas Stars defeated the Lambton Shores Predators in a shootout 2-1 (2-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for five attempts between the teams. In addition to the clincher, St. Thomas got a shootout goal from Spencer Hutchinson.

The Stars came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. St. Thomas trailed 1-0 after a goal by Lambton Shores' Ethan Sarfati at 4:46 in the second period. The Stars knotted things up at 1-1 on a short handed goal by Jordan Babb at 7:40 in the second period.

St. Thomas was led by goalie Dan Black, who finished with 32 saves while allowing one goal. Black certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.34 entering the contest.

The Stars excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. St. Thomas kept the Predators' goalie busy throughout the game, and Andrew Harriman-Duke made 37 saves on 39 shots.

More assists for St. Thomas came via Hutchinson, who had one.

Lambton Shores put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Stars to score on any of their four power plays. St. Thomas was unable to stop the Predators from sending pucks towards the net, and Lambton Shores eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

In addition, Lambton Shores received assists from Franco Sproviero and Ryan Fraser, who contributed one each.

The Stars incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Predators incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
