Chatham wins tough contest against LaSalle, 4-2Vollmer Recreation Complex Wed, Nov 12, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Chatham Maroons gutted out a close 4-2 win against the LaSalle Vipers. Chatham gained the winning advantage on a goal by Brayden Hopkins 16:25 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer. Hopkins had a great game for the Maroons, netting two goals. Chatham excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Maroons' offense rang up 42 shots on LaSalle's net. Others who scored for Chatham included Nate Pietens and Brennan Feasey, who scored one goal each. More assists for Chatham came via Connor McKinnon, Trevor Richardson, Steven Szekesy, Michael Verboom, and Alexander Morgan, who contributed one each. The Vipers forced Chatham goalie Bo Bessette to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. LaSalle's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. The Vipers were helped by Dalton Langlois, who registered one goal. Langlois scored 16:37 into the first period to make the score 2-1 LaSalle. Manny Silverio provided the assist. Nicolas Crescenzi also scored for LaSalle. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Connor Rosaasen, who had one. Bessette recorded 36 saves for the Maroons. Chatham incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. LaSalle's Paolo Battisti stopped 38 shots out of the 41 that he faced. The Vipers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
