Guelph uses big second period to beat Brampton, 7-1Sleeman Centre Sat, Nov 08, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Brampton Bombers was within striking distance after one period, but the Guelph Hurricanes put the pedal down in the second en route to a 7-1 victory. Chad Herron had two goals and one assist to lead Guelph. Herron scored the first of his two goals at 3:05 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Guelph. Lawrence Pagnan picked up the assist. Herron's next tally made the score 7-1 Guelph with 6:10 left in the third period. The Hurricanes had gotten the advantage when Brampton's Anton Bura was sent off for checking from behind. Cameron Stokes provided the assist. Guelph stifled the Bombers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Hurricanes' offense rang up 44 shots on Brampton's net. Guelph outdid its season average for goals scored. The Hurricanes average 3.4 goals per game. Guelph also got points from Pagnan, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Guelph also got a goal from Craig Martini as well. More assists for Guelph came via Michael Courvoisier, who had two, Sebastian Stangherlin and Brooker Muir, who each chipped in one, and Ryan Migliaccio and Jordan Hatzinger, who contributed three each. Jeremie Lintner recorded 24 saves for Guelph. The Hurricanes incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Jake Lawr made 37 saves for the Bombers on 44 shots. Brampton totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play. The Bombers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Bura was ejected from the game.
