Pelham uses shootout to best Fort Erie, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Pelham Pirates defeated the Fort Erie Meteors in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured five attempts between both teams.

Pelham forced Fort Erie goalie Liam Conway to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. The Pirates could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 42 minutes in penalties during the game.

Pelham was led by Riley O Connell, who registered one goal and one assist. O Connell scored on the power play 7:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pelham. The Pirates had gained a power play chance when Dakota Miskolczi was whistled for interference. Anthony Sorrentino picked up the assist. Others who scored for Pelham included Shawn Rooke and Connor Schmalz, who each put in one. In addition, Pelham received assists from Brock Ackerman, who had one.

The Meteors kept Pelham's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tynan Lauziere made 47 saves on 50 shots.

Fort Erie was helped by Josh Micallef, who finished with one goal. Micallef scored on the power play 13:37 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Fort Erie. The Meteors had gotten the advantage when the Pirates' Jake DeMaeyer was sent off for head contact. Christain Nati assisted on the tally. Fort Erie additionally got points from Devin Darrah, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Richard DeMarco, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Fort Erie came via Jared Marino, who had three.

Pelham registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Fort Erie's Conway stopped 29 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Meteors incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
