Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Guelph Hurricanes defeated the Brantford 99ers in a shootout 7-6 (3-2 SO). The shootout lasted for 14 attempts between the teams. Brantford got shootout goals from Gus Ford and Zander Pryor. Guelph also got shootout goals from Craig Martini and Michael Courvoisier.The Hurricanes came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Guelph trailed 2-0 after a goal by the 99ers' Ford at 3:00 in the first period. The Hurricanes knotted things up at 6-6 on a goal by Martini at 19:00 in the third period. Ryan Migliaccio was all over the ice for Guelph, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Migliaccio scored on the power play 7:48 into the third period to make the score 4-4. The Hurricanes had gained a power play chance when David Storey was whistled for cross checking. Martini assisted on the tally. Guelph forced Brantford goalie Jack Moylan to work between the pipes, taking 55 shots. The Hurricanes surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Guelph averages 3.2 goals per game. The Hurricanes could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game. Guelph also got points from Martini, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Brooker Muir, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Peyton Backus, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Guelph also had goals scored by Sheehan Kirkwood and Giordano Finoro, who scored one goal each. In addition, Guelph received assists from Jake Wyse, who had one and Sebastian Stangherlin and Courvoisier, who each chipped in two. The 99ers racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. Brantford surpassed its season average of 25.0 penalty minutes per game. Guelph was unable to stop the 99ers from sending pucks towards the net, and Brantford eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. The 99ers' goal total was higher than their season average. Brantford has scored at the pace of 3.8 goals per game during the current campaign. Dominick Horvath also scored for Brantford. More assists for Brantford came via Nathan Ferris, Cole Cummings, Paris Briscoe, and Ryon Pereira, who contributed one each and Guy Polillo, Matthew Woods, and Pryor, who each chipped in two. Jason DaSilva made 26 saves for the Hurricanes on 32 shots. Guelph registered two goals on four power play opportunities. The Hurricanes ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kirkwood was ejected from the game. Moylan rejected 48 shots on goal for the 99ers. Brantford registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Team's Storey and Scotty Penwarden were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
