Leamington downs Strathroy, 2-1

Mitchell Amante registered one point to lead the Leamington Flyers to a 2-1 victory over the Strathroy Rockets.

Leamington stifled Strathroy's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Flyers' offense operated below their season average. Leamington puts an average of 4.4 pucks into the net per game.

Kyle Perkowski also scored for Leamington. In addition, Leamington received assists from Matthew Opblinger, Alex Friesen, and Chris Scott, who contributed one each.

The Rockets could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Strathroy averages 3.1 goals per game.

The Rockets were led by Nick Boyer, who scored the team's only goal. Boyer scored 4:19 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Strathroy. Stuart King provided the assist.

Michael Barrett made 19 saves for the Flyers on 20 shots. Leamington incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Strathroy's Dane Gubbels stopped 25 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Rockets incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
