Cale Allen lifted the Leamington Flyers to a 6-3 victory with a hat trick against the LaSalle Vipers. Allen's first goal came 8:26 into the first period. He then added goals at 12:41 into the first and at 19:38 into the third.Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 7:56 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Leamington kept LaSalle's goalie busy throughout the game, and Paolo Battisti made 43 saves on 49 shots. The Flyers had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on nine chances. Others who scored for Leamington included Eric Henderson, Mitchell Amante, and Kyle Perkowski, who each put in one. In addition, Leamington received assists from Blaine Bechard, who had two and J.P. Grineau, Ryan Muzzin, Jacob McGhee, Tyler Duarte, Alex Derksen, Chris Scott, and Thomas Virban, who contributed one each. The Vipers' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 28.0 minutes per game LaSalle had been spending in the box. Leamington was unable to stop the Vipers from sending pucks towards the net, and LaSalle eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. The Vipers were helped by Daniel Beaudoin, who grabbed one goal. Beaudoin scored on the power play 3:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 LaSalle. A slashing penalty on Zack Guilbeault had put LaSalle on the power play. Brett Primeau picked up the assist. LaSalle also had goals scored by Nathan Veres and Dalton Langlois, who scored one goal each. More assists for LaSalle came via Connor Matton, who had one and Nikko Sablone, who had two. Michael Barrett recorded 35 saves for the Flyers. Leamington ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For the Flyers, Guilbeault was ejected from the game. The Vipers registered one goal on four power play opportunities. LaSalle ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kyler Carter was ejected from the game. |
