Elmira blows out Brantford, 9-2

The Elmira Sugar Kings had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 9-2 win over the Brantford 99ers.

Elmira's penalty kill excelled, as the Sugar Kings gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

Elmira was sparked by Mitch Klie, who had one goal. Klie scored 4:33 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Elmira. Zac Coulter provided the assist.

The Sugar Kings forced Brantford's goaltenders to work in net, launching 44 shots and forcing 35 saves. Jack Moylan made 25 stops and Mathieu Kingsley made 10. Elmira stifled the 99ers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Sugar Kings bested their season scoring average. Elmira averages 4.4 goals per game. The defensemen of the Sugar Kings were also effective in Brantford's zone, and came away with two goals.

Elmira additionally got points from Adam Brubacher, who also registered one goal and one assist, Eric Palazzolo, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Mac Clutsam, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Klayton Hoelscher, who also registered one goal and one assist, Coulter, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Mitch Wright, who also had one goal and two assists, Brendan Schneider, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Connor Hall, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Elmira received assists from Alex Mutton, Ethan Skinner, and Tyler Seguin (APJ), who contributed one each and Rob Kohli and Jamie Huber, who each chipped in two.

The 99ers were helped by Zander Pryor, who tallied one goal. Pryor scored 18:01 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Elmira. Gus Ford picked up the assist. Evan Bidenti also scored for Brantford. More assists for Brantford came via Paris Briscoe, Ryon Pereira, and Brett Parsons, who contributed one each.

Andrew Lefebvre recorded 20 saves for Elmira. The Sugar Kings incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Brantford incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
