Waterloo beats Brampton 5-0 as Kearns gets hat trick

The Brampton Bombers could not stop the Waterloo Siskins' Evan Kearns, who tallied a hat trick in a 5-0 win.

Kearns got on the scoresheet 3:50 into the second period. He then added goals at 16:03 into the second and at 17:03 into the third.

Waterloo's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Brampton power plays. The Siskins' defensive play was more effective than usual against Brampton. Waterloo allows 2.4 goals per game. The Siskins' offense rang up 43 shots on the Bombers' net.

Waterloo additionally got points from Christian Mroczkowski, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Waterloo also got a goal from Connor Bodnar as well. More assists for Waterloo came via Matt Martin, who had two and Nick Hirst, Eric Cimino, Luke Gazzola, Chase Campbell, Matt Romund, and Josh De Farias, who contributed one each.

Brampton's offense operated below its season average. The Bombers average 2.6 goals per game.

Bailey DeGasperis recorded 18 saves for Waterloo. The Siskins incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Jake Lawr made 38 saves for Brampton on 43 shots. The Bombers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
