Listowel beats Guelph 2-1 after comeback scareSleeman Centre Sat, Nov 01, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Guelph Hurricanes tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Listowel Cyclones held on for a 2-1 victory. Listowel made the score 2-0 on a goal by Tim Nauta at 8:45 in the second period, and Guelph got as close as 2-1 when Peyton Backus scored 17:18 into the third period. Nauta had a great game for the Cyclones, netting two goals. Listowel stifled the Hurricanes' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. In addition, Listowel received assists from Ben VanOotegham, who had one. Guelph put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Cyclones to score on any of their five power plays. More assists for Guelph came via Chad Herron, who had one. Ryan Hergott recorded 19 saves for Listowel. The Cyclones incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Hurricanes' Jeremie Lintner stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Guelph incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
