Caledonia penalty kill dominates in 5-2 defeat of Fort Erie

Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Caledonia Corvairs were able to defeat the Fort Erie Meteors, 5-2.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 12:40 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Caledonia was often in penalty trouble, totaling 11 minors and three majors for 87 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 29.0 minutes per game the Corvairs had been spending in the box. Caledonia excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in 14 chances.

The Corvairs were helped by Anton Trublin, who had one goal. Trublin scored 17:19 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Caledonia. Mitch Purdie picked up the assist. Caledonia additionally got points from Matthew Hore, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Caledonia included Connor Bramwell, Tyler Lepore, and Jacob Buch, who each put in one. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Nathan Gomes, who had two, Kyle Tanev, who had three, and Connor Patton, Jake Brown, and Austin McEneny, who each chipped in one.

Fort Erie's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 10 minors and two majors for 80 minutes in penalty time. The Meteors surpassed its season average of 26.0 penalty minutes per game.

Fort Erie was led by Jarred Marino, who racked up one goal and one assist. Marino scored 19:20 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Caledonia. Devin Darrah provided the assist. Delcan Conway also scored for Fort Erie. More assists for Fort Erie came via Tristan Drescher and Matthew Matyi, who contributed one each.

Caledonia's Kevin Entmaa stopped 19 shots out of the 21 that he faced. The Corvairs registered one goal on 10 power play opportunities. Team's Jordan Peacock, Jayme Forslund, Lepore, and Todd Ratchford were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Liam Conway recorded 23 saves for the Meteors. For Fort Erie, Bryce Martin and Richard DeMarco were ejected from the contest.
