Kitchener falls to Cambridge in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

Phil Caputo gave the Cambridge Winter Hawks a 2-1 (OT) victory over the Kitchener Dutchmen when he scored 4:29 into the extra period.

Kitchener was stymied by Cambridge's netminder Lucas Machalski, who stopped 39 shots during the victory. Machalski certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.62 entering the contest.

The Winter Hawks were led by Caputo, who racked up one goal.

Cambridge excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Dutchmen were unable to stop the Winter Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Cambridge eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Cambridge also got a goal from Maxime Lamontagne as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cambridge were Mitch Atkins and Alex Bottigoni, who contributed two each.

Kitchener was held below its usual level of production. The Dutchmen average 4.3 goals per game. Kitchener forced the Winter Hawks goalie Machalski to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

The Dutchmen were led by Owen Lane APM, who scored the team's only goal. Lane APM scored 17:53 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kitchener. Harrison Domagala provided the assist.

Cambridge incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. David Lobsinger rejected 36 shots on goal for Kitchener. The Dutchmen incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
