Cole's big game bests Brampton in 10-5 Kitchener win

The Kitchener Dutchmen's Connor Cole had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 10-5 win over the Brampton Bombers.

Cole's tallies came at 8:52 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Kitchener and on the power play 13:59 into the first to make the score 3-1 Kitchener.

Kitchener forced Brampton's goaltenders to work without much rest, getting 39 shots and forcing 29 saves. Shane Dietl made 16 stops and Jake Lawr made 13. The Dutchmen stifled the Bombers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Kitchener surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Dutchmen average 4.5 goals per contest. Kitchener got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game.

Kitchener also got points from Harrison Domagala, who also tallied two goals and one assist and Adam Kawalec, who also had three goals and three assists to lead the team in points. Kitchener also had goals scored by Matt Mercer, Alex Demrovsky, and Nathan Grossi, who each put in one. In addition, Kitchener received assists from Mitchell Smith, who had three, Keegan Calder, who had four, Tyler Kliene(APM), Nick Trecroce, and Jacob Cascagnette, who contributed one each, and Kyle Ellis and Jordan Delaurier, who each chipped in two.

Brampton forced the Dutchmen's netminders to work all game long, taking 31 shots and forcing 26 saves. Jackson McIntosh made 19 stops and David Lobsinger made seven. The Bombers' goal total was higher than their season average. Brampton averages 2.7 goals per game. The Bombers' penalty kill unit could not stop Kitchener's power play, which converted on three of five opportunities.

The Dutchmen incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. For Kitchener, Delaurier was ejected from the game. Brampton incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
