Waterloo completes comeback, beats Cambridge, 3-2

The Waterloo Siskins rallied from two goals down to secure a 3-2 win over the Cambridge Winter Hawks.

Waterloo never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Siskins was down 2-0 after a goal by Cambridge's Devin Shell at 6:58 in the second period. Waterloo tied things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by Evan Kearns at 13:35 in the second period. The Siskins scored the game winner at 15:14 in the second period on a goal by Kearns.

Kearns had a great game for Waterloo, netting two goals.

The Siskins forced the Winter Hawks goalie Lucas Machalski to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Waterloo also got a goal from Luke Gazzola as well. In addition, Waterloo received assists from Matt Martin, Nick Hirst, Gary Mantz, Kyle Betts, Chase Campbell, and Danny Hanlon, who contributed one each.

Cambridge kept Waterloo's goalie busy throughout the game, and Evgeny Kiselev made 31 saves on 33 shots. The Winter Hawks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Maxime Lamontagne also scored for Cambridge. More assists for Cambridge came via Matt Harding, who had one and Phil Caputo, who had two.

The Siskins incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Lucas Machalski made 31 saves for Cambridge on 34 shots. The Winter Hawks registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
