Kitchener's comeback falls short, Guelph wins 5-4Sleeman Centre Sat, Oct 25, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Kitchener Dutchmen almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Guelph Hurricanes managed to pull out a 5-4 win in the end. Guelph led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Hurricanes' Cameron Stokes scored on the power play at 4:45 in the second period to put Guelph up 4-1. The Hurricanes were paced by Ryan Migliaccio, who racked up one goal. Migliaccio scored 17:05 into the second period to make the score 5-3 Guelph. Peyton Backus picked up the assist. Guelph put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Kitchener to score on any of its five power plays. Guelph also got points from Stokes, who also registered one goal and one assist and Backus, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Guelph also had goals scored by Sam Natale and Giordano Finoro, who scored one goal each. In addition, Guelph received assists from Jake Wyse, Mackenzie Flewelling, Matt Nightingale, Michael Courvoisier, Luka Zivkovic, and Dylan Sayle, who contributed one each. The Dutchmen were helped by Alex Demrovsky, who registered one goal. Demrovsky scored 9:56 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Guelph. Jacob Cascagnette assisted on the tally. Kitchener additionally got points from Mitchell Smith, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Kitchener included Philip Moser and John Nay, who each put in one. More assists for Kitchener came via Jordan Delaurier, Taite Wirschke, Nick Trecroce, Matt Scott, and Jeremy Kuehn, who each chipped in one. Jeremie Lintner made 21 saves for the Hurricanes on 25 shots. Guelph incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Jackson McIntosh rejected 23 shots on goal for Kitchener. The Dutchmen incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
