O Brien leads Stratford over Listowel, 5-2

The Stratford Cullitons' Shane O Brien had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-2 win over the Listowel Cyclones.

O Brien found the back of the net on the power play 8:54 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while 18:12 into the third to make the score 5-1 Stratford.

Listowel's power play was ineffective against Stratford's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Cullitons kept the Cyclones' goalie busy throughout the game, and Ryan Hergott made 31 saves on 36 shots. Team could not crack Listowel's penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage.

Stratford additionally got points from Trevor Sauder, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Stratford included Joe Leahy and Nathan Templeman, who each put in one. More assists for Stratford came via Mitch Brooks, who had two and Austin Huizenga, Carter Allen, and Deven Kropf, who each chipped in one.

The Cyclones were led by Keaton Willis, who racked up one goal. Willis scored on the power play 18:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Listowel. Listowel had taken the advantage when Stratford's Jeff McArdle got sent off for tripping. Brad Yowart picked up the assist. Listowel also got a goal from Tim Nauta as well. In addition, Listowel received assists from Ben VanOotegham, who had one.

Nick Redman rejected 23 shots on goal for the Cullitons. Stratford incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Cyclones incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
