Richard leads Ancaster to shutout victory over Pelham

Blake Richard recorded a shutout against the Pelham Pirates as the Ancaster Avalanche picked up a 3-0 win.

Ancaster was sparked by Lucas Triemstra, who had one goal. Triemstra scored 1:00 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Ancaster. Owen Burnell provided the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 17:11 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Avalanche stifled Pelham's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Ancaster forced the Pirates goalie Tynan Lauziere to work between the pipes, taking 50 shots.

Ancaster also got points from Lucas Pozzobon, who also registered one goal and one assist. Ancaster also got a goal from Brett Farrelly as well. More assists for Ancaster came via Blake Luscombe, who had two and Cooper Richards and Zach Maciel, who contributed one each.

Pelham put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Avalanche to score on any of their five power plays. The Pirates could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Pelham averages 2.1 goals per game.

Ancaster's Richard stopped 30 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Avalanche ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For Ancaster, Hayden Guitard was ejected from the game. Tynan Lauziere made 47 saves for the Pirates on 50 shots. Pelham totaled 43 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play. Team's Connor Schmalz and Brayden Tworyczuck were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
