The St. Thomas Stars tried to dig themselves out of a four-goal hole, but the Strathroy Rockets held on for a 7-6 victory. A goal by Stuart King put Strathroy up 4-0 in the first period, but St. Thomas pulled to within one on Josh Slegers's tally 6:50 into the third period. The Rockets got the win with help from a great game by King, who had two goals and three assists. King scored the first of his two goals at 48 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Strathroy. Brett Dalton picked up the assist. King's next tally made the score 4-0 Strathroy with 14:07 left in the first period. Nick Boyer provided the assist. Strathroy forced the Stars' goalies to work without much rest, firing 40 shots and forcing 33 saves. Dan Black made 30 stops and Nikolas Dampier made three. The Rockets outdid their season average for goals scored. Strathroy averages 3.0 goals per game. Strathroy additionally got points from Boyer, who also tallied three goals and one assist. Strathroy also had goals scored by Sam Vokes and Dan Chapman, who each put in one. More assists for Strathroy came via Nick Whitworth, Jack Kilgour, Matt Laberge, Eddie Schulz, Kieran Milne, and Andrew Martin, who each chipped in one. St. Thomas kept the Rockets' goalie busy throughout the game, and Mat Ouellet made 31 saves on 37 shots. The Stars found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, St. Thomas averages 3.2 goals per contest. The Stars were led by John Warren, who registered two goals and one assist. Warren scored the first of his two goals at 1:38 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Strathroy. Wade Russell picked up the assist.
