Mantz's big game bests Brantford in 6-2 Waterloo win

The Waterloo Siskins' Gary Mantz had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 6-2 win over the Brantford 99ers.

Mantz found the back of the net 15:00 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Waterloo and again while short handed 18:54 into the second to make the score 5-2 Waterloo.

Waterloo excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Siskins' offense rang up 52 shots on Brantford's net.

Waterloo additionally got points from Kyle Betts, who also had one goal and two assists and Danny Hanlon, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Christian Mroczkowski also scored for Waterloo. In addition, Waterloo received assists from Evan Kearns, who had two and Matt Martin, Nick Hirst, Anthony Guido, Chase Campbell, and Josh De Farias, who each chipped in one.

The 99ers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game.

Brantford was helped by Gus Ford, who registered one goal. Ford scored 15:47 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Waterloo. Paris Briscoe picked up the assist. Brantford also got a goal from Trayvon Henry as well. More assists for Brantford came via Guy Polillo, Mitch Atkins, and Keegan Alvestad, who contributed one each.

Waterloo's Bailey DeGasperis stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Siskins incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For Waterloo, Mroczkowski and Luke Gazzola were ejected from the contest. Jack Moylan rejected 46 shots on goal for the 99ers.
