Thorold outlasts Pelham, 5-3Thorold Community Arena Wed, Oct 22, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Thorold Blackhawks and the Pelham Pirates were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Thorold made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Connor Timmins's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. In a losing effort, Pelham was sparked by Anthony Sorrentino, who racked up two goals. Sorrentino scored the first of his two goals at 2:36 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pelham. Riley O Connell picked up the assist. Sorrentino's next tally made the score 3-3 with 19:00 left in the third period. Shawn Rooke provided the assist. The Blackhawks were led by Timmins, who had one goal and one assist. Timmins scored 6:31 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Thorold. Chris Molnar assisted on the tally. Thorold's offense rang up 31 shots on the Pirates' net. The Blackhawks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game. Others who scored for Thorold included Kyle Langdon, Dan Abbott, Mitchell Mendonca, and Dawson Ethier, who each put in one. In addition, Thorold received assists from Greg Christmas, who had two, Anthony Postiglione, who had three, and Tyler Sehovic and Nick Sacco, who each chipped in one. Thomas Young also scored for Pelham. Other players who recorded assists for Pelham were Brock Ackerman, who had two and Jesse Hewak and Daniel Volpatti, who contributed one each. Ian Shorthouse rejected 23 shots on goal for Thorold. The Blackhawks registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Team's Langdon and Vito Scaringi were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Tynan Lauziere recorded 26 saves for Pelham. The Pirates incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
