London wins tough contest against Strathroy, 4-3

The London Nationals gutted out a close 4-3 win against the Strathroy Rockets.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Austin Kemp's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Trevor Dulong had one goal and two assists to lead London. Dulong scored 8:46 into the first period to make the score 1-0 London. Drew Worrad picked up the assist.

Strathroy was unable to stop the Nationals from sending pucks towards the net, and London eventually piled up 45 shots on goal.

London additionally got points from Kemp, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Worrad, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Michael Woolley also scored for London. In addition, London received assists from Kevin Madden, who had one.

The Rockets' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three London power plays. Strathroy's offense rang up 38 shots on the Nationals' net.

The Rockets were helped by Nick Boyer, who registered one goal and one assist. Boyer scored 19:10 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Strathroy. Stuart King assisted on the tally. Strathroy also got points from King, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Strathroy also got a goal from Matt Laberge as well. More assists for Strathroy came via Jack Kilgour, Brett Dalton, Nick Griffin, and Dan Chapman, who each chipped in one.

Justin Tugwell made 35 saves for London on 38 shots. The Nationals ended with 36 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors. For London, Justin Murray and Kyle L Robinson were ejected from the contest. Mat Ouellet recorded 41 saves for Strathroy. The Rockets totaled 33 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Strathroy ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mark MacAulay was ejected from the game.
