Cambridge downs Elmira in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Cambridge Winter Hawks' Maxime Lamontagne scored 16 seconds into overtime to beat the Elmira Sugar Kings, 3-2 (OT).

Cambridge was paced by Lamontagne, who had one goal.

The Winter Hawks forced Elmira goalie Andrew Lefebvre to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

Cambridge additionally got points from Jake Moggy, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Devin Shell, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, Cambridge received assists from Jordan Chard, who had two and Kyle Liu and Phil Caputo, who contributed one each.

The Sugar Kings excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Elmira was held below its usual level of production. The Sugar Kings put an average of 4.1 pucks into the net per game. Cambridge was unable to stop Elmira from sending pucks towards the net, and the Sugar Kings eventually piled up 44 shots on goal.

Elmira was helped by Steven Jakiela, who registered one goal. Jakiela scored 11:18 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Brendan Schneider assisted on the tally. Elmira also got points from Adam Brubacher, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Elmira were Eric Palazzolo and Cash Seraphim, who each chipped in one.

Lucas Machalski made 42 saves for the Winter Hawks on 44 shots. Cambridge incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Lefebvre recorded 37 saves for the Sugar Kings. Elmira incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
