Listowel rolls over Brantford, 6-1

The Listowel Cyclones had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over the Brantford 99ers.

Brantford's nine penalties came back to haunt it, as the 99ers let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

Listowel was paced by Chayse Herrfort, who grabbed one goal. Herrfort scored on the power play 6:27 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Listowel. A unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Scotty Penwarden had put the Cyclones on the power play. Blake Pickering picked up the assist.

Listowel's offense rang up 32 shots on Brantford's net. The Cyclones surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Listowel has scored at the pace of 3.3 goals per game during the current campaign.

Listowel additionally got points from Pickering, who also had one goal and one assist, Ray McFalls, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Ben VanOotegham, who also registered one goal and one assist. Listowel also had goals scored by Blake Nichol and Kevin Gergley, who each put in one. In addition, Listowel received assists from Tim Nauta and Chad Lemire, who each chipped in one and Keaton Willis, Broedy Karelse, and Jordan Caskenette, who contributed two each.

The 99ers racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and two majors for 34 minutes in penalty time. Brantford surpassed its season average of 26.0 penalty minutes per game. The 99ers were held below their usual level of production. Brantford averages 3.9 goals per game. The 99ers did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 12 shots on net to force 11 saves.

Tyler Fassl made 11 saves for the Cyclones on 12 shots. Listowel incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Jack Moylan rejected 26 shots on goal for Brantford. The 99ers registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Team's Paris Briscoe and Penwarden were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
