Brampton uses early goal to top Cambridge, 3-1

Lucas Goodman scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Brampton Bombers held off the challenges of the Cambridge Winter Hawks in a tough 3-1 win.

Goodman provided Brampton with the game-winning tally when he scored 13:13 into the first period. Kevin Bray picked up the assist.

Goodman had a great game for the Bombers, netting two goals.

Brampton's Jake Lawr was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 28 saves and let only one puck past him. Lawr managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 4.41 prior to the game.

The Bombers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Cambridge power plays. Brampton kept Cambridge's goalie busy throughout the game, and Owen Savory made 31 saves on 34 shots.

Sam Hisey also scored for Brampton. In addition, Brampton received assists from Robert Orlando, Cameron Cruickshank, Nick Petropoulos, and Austin Kozluk, who each chipped in one.

The Winter Hawks stifled the Bombers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Cambridge was led by Zach Magwood, who scored the team's only goal. Magwood scored 14:10 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Brampton. Devin Shell provided the assist.

Brampton incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Winter Hawks incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For Cambridge, Kyle Liu was ejected from the game.
