Guelph's comeback falls short, Kitchener wins 6-5

The Guelph Hurricanes almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Kitchener Dutchmen managed to pull out a 6-5 win in the end.

Kitchener led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Dutchmen's Jordan Delaurier scored on the power play at 19:39 in the first period to put Kitchener up 3-0.

Jacob Cascagnette had a great game for the Dutchmen, netting two goals. Cascagnette scored at 14:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kitchener and again while 11:29 into the third to make the score 6-4 Kitchener.

Guelph was unable to stop Kitchener from sending pucks towards the net, and the Dutchmen eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Kitchener additionally got points from Delaurier, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Alex Demrovsky, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Adam Kawalec, who also had one goal and one assist. Connor Cole also scored for Kitchener. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Mitchell Smith, Taite Wirschke, and Nathan Grossi, who each chipped in one and Kyle Ellis and Jeremy Kuehn, who contributed two each.

The Hurricanes' offense rang up 42 shots on Kitchener's net.

Guelph was led by Michael Courvosier, who registered two goals. Courvosier scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:52 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Kitchener. The Hurricanes earned a power play opportunity when Nick Trecroce was put in the box for roughing. Brooker Muir provided the assist. Courvosier's next tally on the power play made the score 5-4 Kitchener with 8:44 left in the third period. Jake Wyse picked up the assist. Guelph also got points from Patrick Kudla, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Guelph also had goals scored by Matt Nightingale and Sam Natale, who scored one goal each. More assists for Guelph came via Craig Martini, who had two and Jeremie Lintner and Dylan Sayle, who each chipped in one.

Jackson McIntosh made 37 saves for the Dutchmen on 42 shots. Kitchener incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Lintner rejected 25 shots on goal for Guelph. The Hurricanes incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
